Part-time and distance learners can be overlooked in terms of student support. Research done by Vitae shows that PhD distance learners feel a sense of isolation and inability to share their problems with peers. Working with the University of Durham, EDC Connect built a dedicated online community to allow informal communication amongst the part-time and distance learners.
Graduate Junction is managed by EDC Connect on behalf of this not-for-profit PhD researcher community.
Graduate Junction has a bold vision to bring together Masters, PhD and Postdoctoral researchers from across disciplines and around the world to create an online global community. The founders were put off by too many sites which include unnecessary functionality and which, because they are profit-driven, are plastered with banner advertising. Graduate Junction has been designed to be simple and to provide only information which is relevant to the research community.
